The Swiss government rejected the U.S. Request to extradite Polanski. The swiss Justice Ministry said that it was bad for business to send Mr. Polanski back to the states. The Swiss have the reputation of protecting the identities of the parties who deposit money in their banks and the Swiss do not feel that a man who was charged 33 years ago with having sex with a young girl was a serious enough crime to warrant sending a famous movie director back to the states merely to make some prosecutor famous.
