“I don't love you,” you said.
“Why not?”
“Because you're not Ryan Gosling! Your old, your not handsome, your a three time loser, you don't have any money...and there are a million other men that are richer and more famous then you that want me.”
“Your breaking my heart.”
“I do that all of the time, I'm in the business of breaking men's hearts, you'll get over it!”
“Well I guess we do not have anything else to say.”
“Your right, you can drive me back to O’Hare Airport after I pick up my bags from the Michigan Avenue Marriott Hotel.”
We finished dinner, then left the restaurant walked north on Michigan Ave toward the Marriott across the famous Michigan Avenue Bridge. It was ice cold and snowy. There were large chunks of Ice floating in the Chicago River below the bridge. As we walked across the bridge, suddenly a section of the bridge broke off, separating us. You were now standing precariously on a ledge, looking down as the icy river below. We were separated by two feet of open space. Both of us looked down at the river below. The bridge was disintegrating all around us. I tried but couldn’t reach you. It looked as if any moment you were going to fall into the icy river below. I leaned forward over the open space in the bridge. I said, “Amber give me your hand.” You screamed "No!". You looked terrified. Suddenly another chunk of the Bridge fell into the water below. You screamed! I said, “Give me your hand.” "You said, "No!" You looked like you were in a state of shock and were unable to move. Another chunk of the bridge fell. It looked like any minute that ledge that you were standing on was going to give way. I leaped over the two foot opening in the bridge, grabbed you and as I leaped back holding you tightly to my body, the ledge that you were previously standing on fell into the icy cold Chicago River below. We both fell on a staple portion of the remaining bridge. I quickly carried you off the bridge in my arms, just prior to it collapsing into the river below. When we finally got to safety,
you said,
“Why did you risk your life to save mine, you could have just left me there on the bridge and saved your own life?”
“Because I love you and that my life would not be worth anything if you were not a part of it.”
“I love you too, because you were willing
to lose your life to save mine,
You and you alone are my
sweet Valentine.”
“But what about Ryan Gosling?”
“Forgot about Ryan Gosling,
let's go to my hotel.”
