Nearly $1 billion has been paid over the past decade to resolve claims against the New York Police Department, the nation's largest. The total spending outstrips that of other U.S. cities, with payouts covering everything from brutality cases to patrol-car wrecks, including settlements and trial awards. Taxpayers foot the bill. Some police officers have been sued again and again, including one officer who has faced at least seven excessive force and brutality claims. Some law firms have made it their primary business to sue the city. Chicago has also paid out large some of money for police violations of Civil Rights. Currently Stoller is suing the Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart for violations of his civil rights, false arrest and false imprisonment. Thomas Dart is now running for the Mayor of Chicago. I own a townhouse in chicago, illinois. In 1998 Mellon mortgage claimed I failed to pay mortgage payments. The case was settled and I was awarded over $8,000. In 2006, my townhouse association placed the word condominium in its name and told the court we owned the property in trust and were "tenants in common". The townhouse was purchased in "severalty" and a plat of survey describes my property; I also pay for the land and the townhouse my property is sitting on. I went into chancery to attempt to have the judge define my ownership rights. However, Torrick Ward, works for the mayor modified or someone he knows, changed the court docket and the judge ruled against me. Chase, my mortgage holder and another bank, bridgeview told the judge Harris lost the property some time ago. They then instead of releasing the "mortgage" released a "lien". The property is worth greather than $300,000. They then told me I had a surplus of $65,000, and that I should go before the judge that gave my property away to certify the funds. This is a nightmare. I am 63 years old and I have been fighting this act for two years. They allowed me to stay in the property after taking me to rental court. i did not know i was in rental court but since i lost the property in rental court they claimed i lost the property and was a renter. How can any court allow this action. I know get a lawyer. I have tried to no avail over two years with the court rendering the same decision. Can anyone help?
