TEXAS-(AEAE)-HUMBERTO LEAL GARCIA JR, 38, a Mexican National who was convicted of raping and killin a 16 year old girl in 1994, when Garcia was 21 years old, was executed by lethal injection yesterday.
By a Five to Four decision the Supreme Court denied the stay, despite opposition from the Justice Department and the Mexican Government. Garcia was pronounced dead at 6:21PM. "This decision by the court was meant to convey the message to all illegal alliens 'that if you enter this Country illegally, don't expect to have the U.S. Constitutional Rights applied to you' when you are CHARGED with a crime", according to a court observer. SIDEBAR: Mr. Garcia was the wrong color, wrong nationality, had ineffective counsel and represents collateral dammage in the war on immigration. And although Hispanics represent over over 20% of the U.S. population there is "no" Hispanic member of the High Court, who could have made a difference in a 5 to 4 decision which lead to execution Garcia a few days ago.
