NEW YORK-(AEAE)-NEW YORK SUPREME COURT JUDGE PATRICIA ANN WILLIAMS DENIED QUALIFIED IMMUNITY TO LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS IN EPIC 17 YEAR OLD LEGAL BATTLE. A law professor stated that many Federal and State law enforcement officials labor under the false assumption that they can unlawfully arrest any one they want, conduct an unlawful investigation or bring a false arrest, false imprisionment case agianst an innocient party and rely on the "doctrine of Qualified Immunity" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualified_immunity as a shield from being successfully charged in a Section 1983 Civil Rights Law Suit Delgado v. New York http://www.law.com/jsp/nylj/PubArticleNY.jsp?id=1202509465836. Guess what, they are fooling themselves if they think qualified immunity is worth the paper it is written on. The City of Chicago, for example, last year paid out over 200 million in false arrest, malicious prosecution cases and were not saved by the Doctrine of Qualified Immunity in any of the cases.
